The only location in the entire United States which is more than 100 miles from the nearest McDonald’s is a barren location in South Dakota, which sits 107 miles from the closest location.
In 2009, Data Pointed took a complete list of all 13,000 McDonald’s locations and crunched the numbers. The result was that the greatest distance from any McDonald’s in the U.S. is 107 miles, or 145 miles by car.
As Data Pointed wrote:
There, in a patch of rolling grassland, loosely hemmed in by Bismarck, Dickinson, Pierre, and the greater Rapid City-Spearfish-Sturgis metropolitan area, we find our answer.
Between the tiny Dakotan hamlets of Meadow and Glad Valley lies the McFarthest Spot: 107 miles distant from the nearest McDonald’s, as the crow flies, and 145 miles by car!
